Mission on Mars

We designed a special "Mission on Mars" robotics challenge to bring engineering to Catlin Gabel’s entire 7th grade. We worked with one of our middle school science teachers to teach students how to use sensors on Lego robots. The task was accomplished in over 3 weeks of class time, with individuals or teams of two. This program introduced everyone to programming and engineering, not just those in robotics, and resulted in kids electrified about both fields afterwards. We have published a manual online soon so other teachers can use the program for their students. After this program, all of the students involved get exposure to and excited about robotics and FIRST!
