FLL Regional Tournament 07

Our Flaming Chicken cavorts with enthusiastic middle schoolers

On Saturday, December 8, 2007, we hosted the annual regional FLL tournament at Catlin Gabel. Many local teams competed in the event, and much fun was had by all.

The day started off at around 8:00, with teams arriving in full regalia with their Lego robots in tow. After an opening assembly, teams gathered in diferent areas of the campus to make use of practice tables before it was time for them to compete.

The competition itself happened in three rounds, with each team getting three chances at the table. Some teams fared better than others in terms of points, but everyone gained valuable knowledge and experience from the event.

The event closed with an assembly that included a presentation by the Flaming Chickens about high school FIRST robotics, a slideshow of pictures from the day, and the handing out of awards.

Catlin Gabel's own Team Echo walked away the winners, having both obtained the highest score of all the teams and recieving the prestigious Champions Award. They will attend the state FLL tournament in January. In addition, one of Catlin Gabel's other teams, Team Robot2, recieved the Robot Design Award.
