2010 Competition

FIRST Robotic Challenge 2010: Breakaway!

In this year’s game, Breakaway, definitely is going to be a challenge; it's almost like soccer! You want to score goals in the corner goals, and at the end of the game, you earn extra points by hanging off a bar at the top of your alliance tower or climbing on a platform yourself, or by hoisting another alliance member off the field. Each soccer ball that successfully goes into the funnel-shaped goal is worth one point, and additional bonus points will be earned for each robot suspended in air and not touching the field at the end of the match.

The game is played on a carpeted field that has two bumps with a tower in the middle of each. The bumps are trapazoids that divide the field into three parts, stretching from either side of the field. The towers are 7 feet tall with a box-like pipe structure on top to hang off of. The robots will either need to go over the bumps, or go underneath the towers.

Each match is two minutes and fifteen seconds long, and starts off with an autonomous period, which only their programming controls the robots. Then the drivers take over for the remaining time. We are currently in our build season, and are trying to create the best robot possible!
